The Council Bluffs Police and Fire Departments are once again battling it out to see who can collect the most items for Boys Town Iowa families for their "Drive for Healthy Families" during the month of April! Last year's drive was such a success that many more community organizations are joining in the fun, including CHI Health Mercy Hospital, Jennie Ed Methodist Hospital, Council Bluffs Schools, Google and Iowa Western Community College.
The self-proclaimed red and blue teams have collection boxes located throughout Council Bluffs at the police stations, fire department stations, local Hy-Vee grocery stores, Hy-Vee Drug Store and The Center on South Main Street. They're looking for your support to claim this year's title. Donations of the following new and unopened items are greatly appreciated:
- Shampoo/Conditioner
- Bar Soap/Hand Soap
- Unscented Deodorant
- Toothbrushes/Toothpaste
- Feminine Hygiene Products
- Lotion
- Disposable Razors
- Toilet Paper
- Paper Towels
- Kleenex
- Laundry Detergent
- All Purpose Cleaners
- Glass Cleaner
- Rags/Sponges
- Buckets
- Dishwasher Detergent
- Bathroom Cleaners
- Sanitizer
- Diapers & Baby Wipes
- Baby Bottles/Sippy Cups
- Childproofing Accessories
- Bug Bombs/Ant Traps
On Thursday, May 4, the donations will be weighed at a ceremony at the new Boys Town Iowa office at 1702 West Broadway. After the weigh-in, a winner will be crowned.
