Boys Town North Florida Hosts Cornhole Tournament

The atmosphere at Boys Town North Florida was electric as teams of two battled it out for the title of Cornhole Tournament Champion. This exciting event was made possible by the generous sponsorship and organization of Halff Associates, a local engineering firm.

April Banta, Senior Graphic Designer at Halff Associates, shared her thoughts on the event, saying, "We wanted to do something fun and different for the youth at Boys Town. The kids seemed to really enjoy themselves, so it was a big success. After building the cornhole boards with the kids back in June 2023, I promised them that we would be back to host a tournament, so we had to make it happen! Giving back is part of who I am. I say volunteering is in my DNA because if I can help, I will. So, I do. And, I’m grateful for the opportunity to make a positive impact and so glad the kids had a wonderful time!”

Volunteers from the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity played a crucial role in the tournament, assisting with scorekeeping, setting up, cleaning up and even joining in as teammates. As the competition progressed, the youth enjoyed snacks and engaged with the volunteers, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere.

In the end, first, second and third place winners were awarded medals, which they proudly displayed in group photos. Additionally, all participants received merchandise donated by Halff Associates as a token of appreciation for their participation in this exciting and fun-filled event.

The Cornhole Tournament was not just a competition, but also an opportunity for the youth at Boys Town North Florida to enjoy a day of fun and camaraderie, thanks to the support and generosity of Halff Associates and the dedication of the volunteers from the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity.
