City Councilman Oliver Thomas visits Boys Town Louisiana

Meaningful Visits That Left a Lasting Impact

This spring, Boys Town Louisiana had the pleasure of welcoming guests whose time, stories and presence brought connection, encouragement and meaningful conversation to our youth and staff.

The Rotary Club of Metairie hosted a Special Guest Night at our Intervention and Assessment Center in Gretna, featuring Daniel Harris, co-founder of Winston Rhea Scholars -- an organization that provides mentorship and scholarships to current or former foster youth graduating from high school. Daniel has been an incredible partner in supporting our Successful Futures graduates as they navigate early adulthood, and we’re so grateful for his ongoing collaboration.

Guests enjoyed Raising Cane’s chicken and a delicious spread of desserts from Hayden’s Bakery, while learning more about our I&A program -- a short-term emergency shelter serving boys ages 12 to 17 who need immediate care and support. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Metairie for your generosity and partnership.

We were also honored to host City Councilmember Oliver Thomas at our Girls Family Home on Magazine Street. Councilman Thomas spoke with the girls about the importance of turning hardships into strength and using resilience as a foundation for a brighter future. His message was heartfelt, hopeful and deeply appreciated by all who heard it.

To our guests: thank you for showing up, speaking truth and standing with our youth. You are part of their journey, and we are grateful.
