LA Hurricane Preparedness Training Update

Boys Town teaches young men and women to prepare for their future. In Louisiana, that means being prepared during hurricane season with an evacuation plan in place and having the skills necessary to successfully navigate the challenges that a hurricane presents.

Last September, our Family Home youth and staff put the hurricane plan into action by safely evacuating to Boys Town's Home Campus in Omaha, NE.

This summer, Boys Town youth in our Family Home program attended a hurricane preparedness training course and received certificates of completion from the American Red Cross. The training included learning CPR and other valuable skills that will help them in the event of an emergency. As an additional readiness step, the youth put together go-bags, complete with toiletries, to allow them to pack quickly and efficiently in case of evacuation.

Special thanks to staff members Danita Bright and Monica Anderson for putting this event together!
