Boys Town South Florida New Board Member: Rachel Sears

·         Why did you become involved with Boys Town South Florida?

The mission of Boys Town South Florida resonates with me both personally and professionally. I’ve always believed that the foundation of a child’s well-being begins with the strength and stability of their family. Supporting an organization that uplifts families and helps at-risk children access critical resources and services is deeply meaningful to me. As a board member, I’m looking forward to collaborating with other dedicated professionals and community leaders to further the organization’s impact and ensure that every child in our community has the opportunity to thrive.

·         What do you hope to accomplish during your time on the Board?

During my time on the Board, I hope to raise greater awareness about the vital work Boys Town South Florida is doing throughout the South Florida area.  I want to serve as a connector -- bridging the organization with local businesses, professionals and resources that can amplify its reach. Whether through advocacy, fundraising or strategic input, my goal is to be an active and engaged contributor to the mission and long-term success of Boys Town South Florida.

·         What is your favorite program/service that Boys Town South Florida provides? Why?

One of my favorite programs is the Common Sense Parenting program.  It equips parents with practical tools to build healthier relationships with their children, improve communication and reinforce positive behavior.  While I don’t have children of my own, I’ve seen firsthand through friends, family and colleagues how challenging parenting can be -- especially when juggling work, stress and daily responsibilities. This program provides meaningful and accessible guidance that can truly make a difference in a family’s day-to-day life. It really does take a village to raise a child, and Boys Town South Florida plays a vital role in equipping families in our community with the resources and support they need to thrive.

·         What will others be surprised to know about you?

Many people are surprised to learn that I’m a true South Florida native -- born and raised right here in West Palm Beach. I have deep roots in this community and take great pride in giving back to the place that shaped me.

·         What are your hobbies or interests outside of your professional life?

I love to read, both fiction and non-fiction, and really enjoy cooking all sorts of cuisine, but my all-time favorite is Italian food.
