As the summer heat intensifies in Southern Nevada, Boys Town Nevada and RTC Southern Nevada are urging community-minded businesses and residents to support their annual “Hop on Board” summer bus pass initiative. This impactful program provides RTC bus passes to Boys Town Nevada’s families, ensuring they can safely access work, summer programs, medical care and other vital resources despite the extreme temperatures. Paula Lawrence, Director of Development, emphasized the critical need for transportation, stating, “With temperatures reaching dangerous levels, access to transportation is critical for families in our community. Bus passes help parents get to work, children reach enrichment programs and families stay connected to the support systems they need to thrive.”
Businesses and individuals can support the campaign in several meaningful ways. They can host mini fundraisers, set up donation matches at their workplaces, share the campaign on social media and encourage team members to donate. Just $5 provides a daily bus pass for a local family, while $20 covers a week and $65 ensures a month of mobility and security. Additionally, businesses can display campaign flyers or posters in high-traffic areas and invite customers to round up their purchases at checkout as a donation option. These efforts help ensure families in the community remain safe, cool and connected this summer. Families benefiting from the program have expressed immense gratitude, highlighting how bus passes allow them to allocate funds to other necessities and make daily life more manageable.
