When a young person faces the challenges of substance abuse, finding the right support can change everything. For one youth struggling to stay on track with probation, Boys Town Iowa consultant Ree Smith has been that steady source of guidance and hope.
For months, Ree worked closely with the youth and his family, navigating repeated substance-related charges and the setbacks that came with them. While previous treatment efforts had fallen short, Ree knew the key was finding the right environment for recovery. When the family expressed concerns about the initial treatment facility, Ree didn’t give up. She collaborated with the juvenile court officer to identify another program, one that fit the family’s comfort level and needs.
Through a virtual tour and open communication, Ree helped the family gain confidence in the new treatment plan. Today, the youth is enrolled in the program and making strong progress toward sobriety. Meanwhile, Ree continues to guide the family, helping them learn how to support their loved one’s recovery journey every step of the way.
