‘Tis the season to be jolly. Yet for many children who arrive at Boys Town, hardship has often overshadowed their holidays. That’s why Family-Teachers and Family Consultants work tirelessly to ensure Christmas is spectacular and unforgettable.

This tradition began with Boys Town founder, Father Flanagan more than a century ago. His vision was simple: every child deserves the joy of the season. Generations of alumni recall how those traditions shaped their lives.

Norman remembered Christmas dinner in 1929 with Father Flanagan at the table. Allan cherished Midnight Mass in 1953, when decorations were unveiled. Dennis recalled cottage decorating competitions in 1964, while Steve loved hearing the choir sing in 1987. Janelle, in 2003, laughed about a midnight snowball fight with her Family-Teachers. And Tyler, in 2022, shared how Boys Town transformed Christmas from sadness to love, laughter and belonging.

Christmas 2025 will continue this legacy. The season includes a production of “A Christmas Carol,” followed by the Lighting of the Christmas Tree on campus, holiday concerts, caroling tours, a Hanukkah Parade and Christmas Eve services. Adding to the excitement, this year’s Christmas in the Village will feature a Candyland twist, filling the Field House and Great Hall with festive fun.

At Boys Town, Christmas is more than a holiday. It’s a tradition of hope, joy and family that endures across generations.
