Boys Town is building a new early childhood development center.
The 24,000-square-foot facility is expected to house clinical research, specialized education, and family-centered support for children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing.
Boys Town CEO Rod Kempkes and Chief Operating Officer Dr. Jason Bruce celebrated the announcement with other community leaders at a symbolic groundbreaking on Wednesday.
Wednesday’s update comes a few weeks shy of a year after the Boys Town National Research Hospital got underway on its $300 million expansion that aims to pull its research and doctors into a single campus location.
Those expanded facilities include 131,000 square feet of new hospital space and 123,000 square feet of dedicated research labs and clinics. They’re also building a new cafe and family-friendly spaces in addition to updating amenities.
According to a construction update on the Boys Town website earlier this month, the hospital and medical clinics opened a new entrance near 144th and Pacific streets in May.
