Wednesday, July 15: David and Pamela
David and Pamela Harborne first knew Boys Town the way a lot of people do, from the 1938 movie that turned up on TV every Christmas. For years, that was the whole picture.
Then their daughter moved to Omaha, and they finally toured the campus in person. Pamela remembers being struck that Boys Town has its own zip code. David remembers being taken aback by the size and reach of the research hospital, something he'd never heard about.
What they found was far bigger than the movie: a hotline that answers children in crisis, research that reaches families nationwide, a whole village built for kids. "We get more out of our dollar donation from Boys Town than probably any other donation we make," David says.
