Happy birthday, Father Flanagan!

Monday, July 13:
Happy Birthday, Father Flanagan!

Today is the Venerable Father Flanagan's birthday, and it's why we celebrate Donor Week every July.

He was born in Ireland in 1886. He was so frail his family feared he wouldn't survive his first night. He came to America in 1904, and in 1917 borrowed $90 to rent a run-down boarding house in Omaha. Five boys moved in. He turned no one away, regardless of their race or religion, because he believed there is no such thing as a bad boy.

Father Flanagan died in 1948. More than a century later, his belief still holds, carried by supporters like you. This week, we celebrate his birthday by celebrating you.

Today's Quiz: Father Flanagan

His birthday kicks off Donor Week, so it's a fitting moment to look back at the man who started it all. Take two minutes to see how well you know Father Flanagan's story.

Special Thanks from the Leaders of Boys Town
