As autumn approaches, I am delighted to share the exciting developments and accomplishments taking place in our 30th year at Boys Town Washington DC. With gratitude, we celebrate our progress and commitment to serving the children and families of this remarkable community
In alignment with our organizational goal to establish all members of our behavioral therapy team in pediatric offices throughout the DMV, we have added an additional two office locations this year bringing our total to seven. In addition to our on-campus clinic, this integrated model allows us to address the emotional and mental well-being of the children we serve in a safe and familiar setting – their own doctor's office. Through collaborative care, we ensure a holistic approach that supports the whole child in their journey toward a brighter future.
Education plays a vital role in shaping a child's future, and at Boys Town Washington DC, we are committed to bolstering the academic success of our children. I am thrilled to announce that for the upcoming 2023-24 school year, Boys Town will serve ten schools through the Mayor's Truancy Reduction Program – an increase from last year. Through this program, we provide crucial resources, mentorship, social skills and educational support to children who may be facing challenges at school or home. By empowering children and families with the tools they need to succeed, we are creating a brighter and more promising tomorrow.
This summer, we embarked on an ambitious journey to empower our youth through the implementation of the Workforce Development Program. In addition to providing hands-on work experience, we offered participants valuable social and behavioral skills and mentorship opportunities. We witnessed inspiring growth and development as our youth gained confidence and found their paths toward a fulfilling future. Our sincere appreciation goes to our partners, mentors and supporters who made this program possible.
