Boys Town Highlights the Power of Gratitude and Giving

Boys Town Highlights the Power of Gratitude and Giving This Thanksgiving Season

From small acts of kindness to major moments of generosity, Boys Town reminds families that gratitude is the heart of the holiday season.

BOYS TOWN, Neb. (Nov. 24, 2025) — As Thanksgiving ushers in the season of gratitude, Boys Town is encouraging families to pause and reflect on what they’re thankful for and to look for ways to give back. From expressing appreciation at the dinner table to volunteering as a family, simple acts of gratitude can make a lasting impact. Boys Town experts say that practicing thankfulness not only strengthens relationships but also improves mental well-being and teaches children compassion.

“Gratitude changes the way we see the world,” said Dr. Christopher Blank, licensed psychologist at Boys Town Behavioral Health Center. “When families focus on what they have instead of what’s missing, they model empathy, resilience, and hope. That mindset is contagious and it’s what makes this time of year so special.”

Boys Town programs rely on the generosity of donors and volunteers who dedicate their time, talent, and resources to support children and families in need. Whether it’s through mentoring, donations, or acts of kindness, Boys Town encourages everyone to find their own way to give.

“The season of giving isn’t about how much you spend, it’s about the intention behind your actions,” added Dr. Blank.  “Even the smallest gesture, like writing a thank-you note or helping a neighbor, can make someone feel valued and seen.”

Boys Town experts are available for interviews to discuss:
