Baseball has always been more than just a game at Boys Town — it’s a chance to learn teamwork, resilience and the joy of working toward a common goal. This year, the team turned those lessons into history-making accomplishments. What started as a season of teaching fundamentals and building confidence quickly transformed into one of the most memorable runs in decades.

The Cowboys captured one of their first baseball tournament championships in over 30 years! Even if records can’t confirm the exact date of the last title, one thing is certain: 2025 was a season the players, coaches and fans will never forget.

The team closed the season with an outstanding 19–2 record, with both losses coming by one run. Hard work paid off early as Boys Town captured the regular-season title and secured the #1 seed heading into the tournament.

The road to the championship was anything but easy. In the semifinals, Boys Town faced a Millard team riding an 11-game winning streak. In a nail-biting finish, one of the Cowboys stole home in the final inning to break a tie and send the team to the championship game. Millard battled its way back for a rematch, but Boys Town held strong, leading from start to finish in a 6–4 victory.

The season brought more than just the championship trophy:

  • Boys Town, with four players represented on the team, won the league’s All-Star Game. Boys Town coaches were selected to coach the squad.
  • Freshman Bryce W. claimed both the Home Run Derby title and the League MVP award.
  • Head Coach Brandon Henry was honored as the League’s Coach of the Year.

But beyond the victories and accolades, this season was special because of the players themselves. Many of the Cowboy players had little to no baseball experience before tryouts. While a few returning players provided a foundation, the majority were brand new to the sport. That meant starting with the basics — teaching skills from scratch — and watching the team grow together.

What truly made the difference was peer support. Veteran players stepped up as role models, guiding and encouraging their teammates. That spirit of unity and mentorship is exactly what Boys Town is all about — helping one another learn, grow and succeed.

The 2025 Boys Town baseball season will be remembered not only for the championship trophy, but also for the heart, growth and camaraderie that defined it. These young men proved that with determination, support and belief in one another, incredible things are possible. Their victory is a proud milestone for Boys Town -- and a reminder that the spirit of teamwork will always be our greatest strength.
