At what age should kids be able to get themselves ready for school?

The age for kids to be more independent in that morning routine really kind of varies from kid to kid but you can start fairly early in terms of looking for small tasks that they can complete on their own. Most kids really like the idea of being independent so if you can start that early in the process then you set that mindset of independence and confidence in their ability to get themselves ready to go in the mornings. You can start with a toddler and there are little things toddlers can do. For example, if you have some suggestions or some ideas of breakfast options, they can choose from those and they can help pick out what they can wear for the day. I would just look for little things that kids can complete on their own to reinforce that independence. Of course as they get older that menu expands of things that can complete on their own.
