New Partnerships Expand Successful Futures for DC Youth

Boys Town Washington DC is launching three new cohorts of our Successful Futures workforce development program.

The first began in March and is a new partnership with Sasha Bruce Youthwork. The project will provide teen mothers at Sasha Bruce with access to the Boys Town Successful Futures workforce development program.

This partnership is particularly important for teenage mothers who often face significant barriers to education and employment. Many teenage mothers struggle to balance their responsibilities as parents with the demands of school and work. Those at Sasha Bruce are also experiencing housing instability and other adversities that make planning for the future difficult. Successful Futures will provide these young women with the resources they need to overcome these challenges and build a brighter future for themselves and their families.

The second cohort is in partnership with the Mayor Marion S. Berry Summer Youth Employment Program. In addition to gaining workforce development training, this group will also gain hands-on employment experience as camp counselors in the Boys Town Care Coordination Services Summer Camp.

The third partnership is with Bell Multicultural High School in Washington DC. They will provide workforce development training to their student athletes this summer. This is an amazing opportunity to provide students engaged in athletic programs with exposure to the many industries and careers available to them in the real world.

Successful Futures is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the workforce. The program provides training in areas such as job readiness, financial literacy, and professional communication. In addition, participants will receive individualized coaching and support to help them identify and achieve educational and career goals.

Boys Town Washington DC is proud to be celebrating 30 years of service to young people in the DC area. By working together, we can provide a bigger impact on the community. These partnerships are a testament to the power of collaboration and our commitment to building a better future for youth and families.
