Boys Town Nevada Brings More Support to Clark County Schools

Las Vegas, NV – Boys Town Nevada is helping even more schools within the Clark County School District. Over the next two years 65 schools will have teacher and administrator training to help with classroom management by Boys Town. Also, Boys Town staff members will work directly in 90 schools to teach the students social skills and will support kids and families in their own homes.

“Boys Town has been a partner with CCSD for many years and we are committed to supporting schools through our prevention and intervention programs. We are appreciative that schools see value in our programs and to CCSD for this opportunity to work with more schools,” said John Etzell, Executive Director of Boys Town Nevada. “Our programs help to create a calm atmosphere in schools, and our data shows a reduction in office referrals, higher attendance rates and more parent communication with teachers”.

The support is part of Boys Town’s LIFT Together program. It was started in 2015 in two elementary schools, through the generous support of the Engelstad Foundation and the Latin Chamber of Commerce. It has grown to be part of 28 schools, impacting over 6,000 students and training over 500 teachers last year. Now, it will soon be part of 90 schools in the district. "I always believe that small ideas can become a life gamechanger, when communities come together" said Peter Guzman President of the Latin Chamber of Commerce.
