The Booster Banquet, which benefits and honors Boys Town student athletes will be held on May 2, 2023 at the Embassy Suites Windsor Ballroom, 12520 Westport Parkway, La Vista. The Boys Town Boosters were formed to help ensure that any child who wants to play sports at Boys Town could do so. Miller was a three-sport athlete at Bishop Neumann Highschool in Wahoo, Nebraska earning all-state honors as a quarterback and winning state in basketball and football. In college, he walked on at University of Nebraska but transferred to University of Nebraska- Omaha. He became the starting quarterback for the Mavericks in 2006 and was named the North Central Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Miller was drafted in 2009 by the Jacksonville Jaguars where he transitioned from quarterback to tight end. In 2014, he signed with the Chicago Bears and had a few successful seasons with them before suffering a career-ending injury catching a touchdown pass against the New Orleans Saints. He dislocated his knee, severing an artery. After being rushed to the hospital, doctors were able to repair the artery and save his leg. Miller went on to have eight more surgeries after the injury.
