​​​We conduct applied research focused on understanding the nature of problems children and ​families face in ​​today's ​world ​and ​identifying the most effective ways to help ​​them.

The applied research conducted by the Boys Town Translational Research CenterSM focuses on:

  • The development and evaluation of interventions for youth and their families
  • Understanding youth and family risk and protective processes related to child maltreatment, substance misuse, and juvenile offending
  • Examining the behavioral-emotional, mental health, and educational problems of youth


The TRC is dedicated to:

  • Contributing to scientific literature on topics related to child and family development and interventions, as well as keeping scientists and practitioners informed of our work
  • Employing knowledgeable interdisciplinary research scientists and analysts
  • Collaborating with experts in the social science fields
