Why is it so important to address the issue of self harm?

View Transcript

Addressing self-harm always necessitates professional help. The number one reason to address it is that even though a child might not want to die, they might screw up. They might do it wrong and they might really harm themselves. They might take two pills too many. The help that they thought was going to be there might not be there. The phone call they made for help might not get through. They may have intended for this to go on much differently. I tell both professionals and people, teachers and parents who are working with kids to take all forms of self-harm very seriously. Seek professional advice follow that professional advice to the letter
