Well, kids will push back and will resist the idea that parents can have access to what they consider their private stuff. Here's the thing, that is how you keep them safe. And accept some weeping, gnashing of teeth, eye rolling. Just explain to them that it won't last forever, eventually they won't live with you anymore but your job is to keep them safe and as long as they're not doing anything they aren't supposed to be doing, they aren't going to have a problem.
