What if my child does not want to talk about a crisis?

What if my child does not want to talk about a crisis? Is that OK?

So what do you do if some kind of crisis happens, like a school shooting or a big natural disaster and you want to talk to your child, and your kid just isn't interested in having the conversation?

Really that's okay. Kids will process things at different levels. Sometimes it'll ping their brain, and sometimes it won't. You let them know you're receptive to talk, and you let them know more than once. And then you just pick up on their cues, and go from there.
