My Kids are Always on the Go. How Can I Make Sure They are Getting Adequate Rest?

View Transcript

Dr. Schnoes: For those kids who aren’t already in bed trying to fall asleep, then it’s a little bit more of starting with providing them with sufficient information for them to be motived to get more sleep and often times what matters to them more is their ability to well the next day and to learn and to remember. For kids who are in high school and want to do well academically, more sleep will help them do well academically, or even athletically. So, it’s getting them to understand how important it is, and then be reasonable in that approach and gradually increase their total sleep time. Probably not going to get them to nine, but if I can get them more than seven, that’s huge.
