How do I use an incentive like watching cartoons to get my kids to get ready for school without letting it interfere with their leaving on time?
The expectation with incentives is that if they follow the rules and they complete them or they terminate that time then they get to have that privilege for the following morning. If they don't then they lose that privilege. So it is really important that you sit down and you talk with your kids about this process. Sometimes rewards can be taken advantage of so it's really important for parents to make those expectations clear as well as what are the natural consequences of kids not following those expectations.
