How can I impress upon my child how important school is?

When it comes to making your kid feel like school is important, the first thing I tell every parent is to give their child a future view of where they're going. When kids know where they are going and what can help them to get there, then they can figure out what tools they need in their tool bag to get there. What's at school that you need, what's at home that you need and what's a friend that you need to be able to get to the goal that you are trying to get to? Then kids figure out what they need from me, the support that they need from me with homework or getting them to this practice, or from their teacher being able to teach them this or that. When you make those things priorities it is easier for your child to know where they are compared to the final goal that they are trying to get to. Then I think they have a good perspective about the importance of school. When they cannot see their future, it is hard to know what exactly is happening in the present.
