How can I support my child who is struggling in school?

Question:

How can I support my child who is struggling in school?

Answer:

It's important to take as much of an interest in school as possible because you want your child to understand that it's important to you. It's easy to say that school's important and they should do their homework. But if you're not involved and not communicating with the teachers, then that message becomes mixed.

Try to establish a relationship with your child's teachers right away. Communicate with them. Show up at school. Participate as much as you can. Take an interest in what your child is learning, and talk with them about it. Make it fun and just as important as sports. It's just as important to be excited about a good test grade as it is to be excited about a score in a game.
