How do I know if I’m pushing my child too hard?

Question:

How do I know if I’m pushing my child too hard?

Answer:

It really depends on the child. Not everybody can be the best at something, so you must understand what your child is capable of, and that will give you an idea of whether you're pushing them too hard or too far. In the end, you should try to create a supportive learning environment and not focus on being perfect.

Some signs that you might be pushing too hard would be a child becoming less excited about school — in other words, it's less their thing and more your thing. Symptoms might include your child refusing your help or not asking for your help. They may try to do it all on their own and become frustrated. They might not show you what's in their backpack or talk about their homework. If you see these signs, you may be pushing too hard.
