​​​Chief Psychologist

Dr. Robert J. Wingfield

Dr. Robert J. Wingfield, Chief Psychologist of ​the Boys Town Washington DC Behavioral Health Clinic, earned his B.A. in Psychology from McDaniel College, followed by his M.A. in School Psychology from Towson University. He then earned his Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Florida with a specialization in behavioral pediatrics. Dr. Wingfield completed pre-doctoral training at the Boys Town Center for Behavioral Health in Boys Town, Nebraska. He then completed specialized training in behavioral psychology as a postdoctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland.


Licensed Psychologist, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional

Dr. Avital Deskalo

Dr. Avital Deskalo is a licensed psychologist and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, with a ​​background in treating traumatic stress. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Delaware. Following her undergraduate education, she earned her M.S.Ed. in Learning and Developmental Sciences and her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Indiana University-Bloomington. At Indiana University, Dr. Deskalo gained experience in therapy and assessments in multiple treatment settings, including Riley Hospital for Children, Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility, community mental health centers and schools. She completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Boys Town Center for Behavioral Health in Boys Town, Nebraska.


Licensed Psychologist

Amanda McLean​​Amanda McLean, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist at the Boys Town Washington D.C. Behavioral Health Clinic. She current​ly provides outpatient services to children of all ages and their families. Dr. McLean received her Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University. She has assisted in the development and oversight of programs at the Boys Town Nebraska Behavioral Health Clinic including the Parenting for Success Clinic, a service that provides parent-child interaction therapy techniques to children and their caretakers to manage behavioral concerns, and the Interp​​ersonal Skills 4 Kids groups, a social skills curriculum for elementary, middle, and high school age youth. Her clinical interests include behavioral pediatrics, disruptive behavior problems, ADHD, and anxiety disorders.​


Licensed Psychologist

Amber Thornton

​​Dr. Amber Thornton is a licensed psychologist who has worked with children, adolescents, young adults, parents and families, and has clinical experience related to childhood trauma, foster parenting, race-related stressors and cultural issues (gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, immigration). She earned her B.S. in psychology from Ohio State University, and her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Wright State University School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Thornton completed her predoctoral internship at WestCoast Children’s Clinic in Oakland, California, and received postdoctoral fellowship training at Oesterlen Services for Youth, Inc., in Springfield, Ohio.
