Boys Town North Florida's Magical Tree Lighting Ceremony

Boys Town North Florida held their annual campus Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014. More than 100 guests including youth, staff, donors, board members and community volunteers shared the magical evening together as the Christmas tree was lit and The Good Shepherd Catholic Church Men’s Choir led the crowd with Christmas carols through the night.

Special Christmas ornaments with the youth’s names were made and placed on the tree, making the lighting extra special and memorable. A chili cook-off was provided by the Boys Town North Florida homes and office departments provided more food for the guests. DJ Willie Brown kept the evening lively while the Leon High School Student Government provided drinks and desserts to finish the night.

“The Tree Lighting Ceremony is always one of my favorite events,” said Ken Bender, Executive Director, Boys Town North Florida. “We get to kick off the Christmas season by sharing in the Christmas spirit with our friends in the community, our youth, staff and their families. It is always great to be able to have the community share in our holiday traditions every year.”

The annual Tree Lighting Ceremony has been a tradition for 15 years and Boys Town North Florida looks forward to continuing and sharing with the community that supports the mission of changing the way care should be for children, families and communities.
