Menorah Parade Reignites Special Bond Between Boys Town and Jewish Community

Boys Town, the Omaha Chabad Center and the Omaha community celebrated the start of Chanukah Wednesday, Dec. 17 during the fourth annual Omaha Menorah Parade and Celebration.

The parade kicked off at the Hall of History at the Village of Boys Town with opening ceremonies. Boys Town staff and youth participated in the opening ceremonies by preparing traditional Chanukah treats. The interactive program included traditional music, dancing and presentations on the history of Chanukah before the Menorah was lit.

“Boys Town and the Omaha Jewish community have supported one another ever since Father Flanagan borrowed $90 from his friend Henry Monsky, an upstanding Jewish businessman, to start Boys Town,” said Tom Lynch, Director of Community Programs at Boys Town. “Because of this tradition, Boys Town is thrilled to be the starting location for the Chanukah Parade and celebrate with our long-time friends.”
