Boys Town Central Florida’s 12th Annual Candy Cane 5k

Boys Town Central Florida had their 12th Annual Candy Cane 5k on December 8 at Central Winds Park in Winter Springs.

The event allowed for runners of all ages to put on their reindeer antlers, Santa suits and race to raise money for Boys Town Central Florida.

This year the race had an attendance of 745 and was able to raise over $18,000.

All participants received a t-shirt, the first 700 to cross the finish line received a medal.

This year the top male finished in 17:46 and the top female finished in 19:08.

Throughout the event, there were numerous activities for the whole family to enjoy. In addition to the 5k, there is also a Kids Fun Run for younger children to participate in. Local vendors provided food and of course, hot chocolate. The event would not be complete without Santa waiting at the end of the finish line.

"The Boys Town Candy Cane 5K is an awesome event for the whole family. It really brings the community together and shows the youth and families we serve that someone truly has their back," said Tabitha Talbott, Central Florida Donor Relations Specialist. "Plus, free pancakes…need I say more?"

Thanks to everyone who participated and helped raise money to further the mission of Boys Town Central Florida.
