Olympian Makes Special Visit to Boys Town Washington, D.C.

Three-time Olympic long-track speed skater, Nathaniel Mills, cooled down the summer heat Saturday, June 26 when he demonstrated his I.C.E. skating skills to Boys Town Washington, D.C., youth.

Mills, along with youth from his Inner City Excellence (I.C.E.) Program wowed Boys Town youth and staff with their speed skating skills during an hour-long presentation. As the I.C.E. members showed off their amazing talents, Mills (Coach Nat) used them as examples for the topics he discussed.

“It is a delight to be able to expose our kids to different sports and activities,” said Tosha Roundtree, Boys Town Washington, D.C., Development Director. “One of the great components to speed skating is that an individual can excel on his/her own terms. I think the opportunity for Boys Town youth to meet the youth in I.C.E. will inspire some of them to find an activity they too can excel in on their own terms.”

The I.C.E. Program was inspired by two-time Olympic medalist Shani Davis after the 2006 Olympic Games. I.C.E. is rooted in the universal principles of Olympism and attracts Olympic-caliber athletes, coaches and community leaders to serve as instructors, mentors and supporters of year-round programs and events.
