Boys Town In-Home Family Services℠
Trained Family Consultants work with families that are struggling to stay together or are in danger of having a child removed from the home. No matter what the underlying cause – economic hardship, substance abuse, marital issues, family conflicts, health challenges or others – the goal is to keep children in the home, or to reunify them with their family if they have been removed from their home. Consultants work right in the parents’ home, helping them to improve parenting skills, create a safe, nurturing home for children and use resources in the community to solve problems on their own. Consultants are on call 24/7 to provide support and assistance.
- School and Family Support Services (SFSS) provide in-home counseling and support for families of students in participating Palm Beach County elementary schools. Through screening, these students have been identified as being at risk for social, emotional and behavioral issues that could interfere with their success in school. Family Consultants work with families to improve parenting skills and prevent abuse and neglect. Participating schools benefit from this unique program because Family Consultants have an office in nearly every participating school and are available to teachers in the classroom.
- Located in one of the largest school districts in the nation, Boys Town South Florida screens more than 11,000 kindergarten and first-grade students each year in 60 schools. The screenings determine the need for early intervention and in-home and in-school support. On average, 22 percent of children screened are deemed eligible for Boys Town services.
