Basket Brigade Provides Meals to South Florida Families

Boys Town South Florida celebrated the season by giving back to those less fortunate with their 19th Annual Thanksgiving Basket Brigade Saturday, November 20.

The event began as part of the Anthony Robbins Foundation’s International Basket Brigade, which provides dinners to over 2 million families around the world each year. With the help of Accurate Glassworks, the Junior League of Palm Beach, Florida Power and Light and other volunteers, Boys Town South Florida provided 530 Thanksgiving meals to families.

The volunteers gathered at the West Palm Beach campus early Saturday morning, where they began assembling the meals. Later, they delivered the dinners to excited families throughout the area.

Noemi Coltea, Boys Town South Florida Development Director, said the support from local businesses and volunteers made all the difference. “We are so thankful and pleasantly surprised at how members and organizations from the community got together to help those in need,” said Coltea.

This year, Boys Town South Florida saw the Brigade’s gift come full circle. "Some of the families we have served came to volunteer. They remembered how much it helped to receive a basket and wanted to come and give back to others,” said Amy Simpson, Boys Town South Florida Executive Director. “We are so thankful for the outpouring of support for the Basket Brigade. It is always a fun event, with volunteers of all ages making up the assembly line.”
