School Discipline Assessment

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The school discipline assessment includes input from administrators, managers, supervisors, teachers, students, parents and other adults who work with youth in education settings.

WHAT WE DO

Two Girls and Boys Town staff members typically spend two 10- to 14-hour days at your school. During their visit, data is collected in a variety of ways to obtain a representative picture of your school.

School discipline assessments obtain data from four sources: 1) direct observations of teachers and students in classroom and school activities; 2) focus groups or interviews with students, teachers, administrators, support staff and parents; 3) pencil and paper surveys with students, teachers, parents and administrators; and 4) a review of available school data, e.g., office referrals and suspensions (Table 1).
