Education Services

The Education Services division provides staff development training and assessments to teachers and administrators in school settings. In 2004, we worked with 575 schools, 10,855 teachers and administrators in 34 states. Our education experts share the concepts, strategies and methods of the Boys Town Education Model through training such as The Well-Managed Classroom, Administrative Intervention, Specialized Classroom Management and Dealing With Bullying.

The Model combines a systems-based social skills curriculum with sound teaching interactions and administrative practices. Studies show that schools who use this Model enjoy:

  • Fewer acts of verbal and physical aggression
  • Fewer number of office referrals
  • Increased time on task

In addition to staff development training, Boys Town offers its popular Reading is FAME program. This researched-based reading intervention program builds upon the strengths of adolescents reading below grade level and has proven to be highly successful. Reading Is FAME includes the findings of the National Reading Panel published December 2000. Elements of FAME identified by the panel are: phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension and technology instruction. Data collected for approximately 10 years has shown a student gain of one to two years of growth in one semester.
