Reading Is FAME®
Mastery of Meaning
OVERVIEW
Mastery of Meaning is the third course in the Reading Is FAME® program and is designed specifically for students in grades 9-12 who read between the 6th and 8th grade levels. Students in the 8th grade may benefit as well; however, the course is complex and any decisions should be made on a case-by-case basis. The goal in Mastery of Meaning is to improve comprehension by increasing students' knowledge of word meanings. Students are provided with multiple opportunities to learn a wide variety of words, concepts and topics. Reading, writing, listening and speaking activities allow students to process word meanings.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is ideal for teachers, administrators, special education coordinators, reading specialists and other educators who work with students in grades 7-12. Mastery of Meaning training and consultation services can be provided at the state, regional, district, program, school or classroom level.
Prerequisite: Signed contract for one-day training and follow-up consultation visit.
