Parents of Children with ADHD

Two-hour sessions once a week for seven weeks.

Sessions include…

Why Do I Have ADHD? is a review of the definition, symptoms, medications, developmental strengths and weaknesses of ADHD. You will learn how to set reasonable expectations and set up workable family routines for children diagnosed with ADHD.

Teach Me Right from Wrong teaches you positive ways to discipline and clear ways to communicate with your ADHD child and shows you how to use appropriate consequences that teach right from wrong.

Tell Me When I'm Good teaches you effective ways to nurture and encourage your ADHD children's positive attempts, improvements and accomplishments through praise, attention, charts and rewards.

Show Me What to Do teaches you social skills you can practice with your children to decrease chronic problem behavior and increase their ability to deal appropriately with everyday situations.

Correct Me without Anger shows you how to respond to ADHD children's frequent problem behavior by teaching and practicing acceptable alternatives. You will develop a staying calm plan with your ADHD children to keep things relaxed when you need to correct their behavior.

How Can I Calm Down gives you easy-to-learn skills that help you model to your children how to calm down when becoming upset, including effective ways to avoid a major outburst.

Help Me Succeed In School enables you to develop a parenting plan based on the information you have learned in class.

The plan helps you to enhance your children's strengths and improve weaknesses in school. You will discuss fun study tools you can use at home and positive communication skills you can use with the staff at your children's school.

Mondays: 10/27/2008 – 12/8/2008, 7pm - 9pm


Boys Town National Research Hospital

Wednesdays: 6/11/2008 - 7/23/2008, 7pm - 9pm
