What if my child's reaction to a crisis seems indifferent?

If you want to discuss a crisis with your child and you ask them about it and you don’t get much of a response, wait a little while and ask again. It may be that it just hasn't really occurred to them yet, or your child is still kind of thinking about and needs a little extra time before you talk. It doesn't mean that you have an unfeeling child or your child doesn't have any empathy for what's going on. Sometimes when kids are really stunned by something, they have to process through it first before they can talk to you about it.
