If your child is part of a crisis or witnesses a crisis, how do you talk to them about it?

If your child is near to the crisis, a part of what happens, or sees it, your best bet is first of all to make sure that they are physically safe and to let them know you are there for them. Then to go on ahead and call in some expert help for yourself: a therapist, your clergy person, pastor, minister, or a priest. Talk with your child's school counselor, just to make sure everything is all right.
