Sleep Issues

Whether they have trouble sleeping through the night or getting up on time for school, many kids have sleep issues. If you’re trying to put your child’s sleep problems to rest, here are some parenting tips that can help:

  • If your child frequently gets up in the middle of the night, let your child take a stuffed animal or blanket to bed to provide comfort.
  • Playing soothing music can help a child fall asleep or fall back to sleep.
  • If your child has nightmares, ask if there is anything in the room they want removed (e.g., a certain toy or poster, or something that causes a “scary” shadow).
  • Put a nightlight in your child’s room.
  • Create a bedtime routine and stick to it. Consistency is key.
