Biography

J. Christopher McGinnis, Ph.D., BCBA-D, Clinic Director for Boys Town South Florida’s Behavioral Health Clinic, is a behavioral pediatric and family psychologist with extensive experience helping children and families overcome social, emotional, behavioral, and educational challenges. He is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and Nationally Certified School Psychologist with expertise in pediatric sleep health, ADHD, oppositional behavior, anxiety disorders of childhood, and intellectual giftedness. He is a published author in gifted education and behavioral pediatrics and regularly speaks and writes about graceful and effective childrearing, science versus pseudoscience in medical and behavioral healthcare and the allied pediatric therapies, and nonpsychopathologizing alternatives to traditional conceptual systems in behavioral healthcare. He has taught at Florida Gulf Coast University and has served as a subject matter expert for the Behavior Analysis Certification Board. Dr. McGinnis earned his doctorate from The University of Southern Mississippi with a clinical internship at the Village of ​Boys Town and returned to the Boys Town family following a successful decade of private group practice in Southwest Florida.
