Boys Town Boosters Make Record Donation
The Boys Town Boosters presented a record $72,000 check to Boys Town officials on Oct, 1, 2004 during halftime of the Wahoo Neumann vs Boys Town home football game at Home Campus. The proceeds, the highest amount raised in the 35-year history of the Boosters, came from its May banquet featuring Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro lineman and former Nebraska Cornhusker Will Shields.
More than 400 Boys Town student-athletes will benefit from these contributions. The donation will provide for girls’ summer athletic camps, new basketball hoops at Palrang Field House, a sprinkler system at the baseball field, a video camera, scorer’s table and other athletic equipment and programs.
The Boys Town Boosters are a group of community leaders who have donated proceeds from their annual banquets since 1969. Past banquets have featured such famous athletes and coaches as Ted Williams, Ozzie Smith, Payton Manning, Lou Holtz, Tom Osborne, Dick Vitale, Rick Pitino and Howie Long.
