Boys Town Press Parenting Books Receive National Endorsement
When it comes to sound parenting advice, the National Parenting Center recognizes two Boys Town Press books as top-notch.
The third edition of "Common Sense Parenting: Using Your Head as Well as Your Heart to Raise School-Aged Children" and "There are No Simple Rules for Dating My Daughter" received the Center's Seal of Approval recognizing "the finest products and services being marketed to the parent/child audience."
"Some parenting books feature long and exceptionally in-depth analysis of parenting/childrearing issues. They are huge books that, quite frankly, terrify most parents. In this Third Edition of "Common Sense Parenting," Boys Town Press displays that they 'get it'," read the National Parenting Center's endorsement. "'There Are No Simple Rules for Dating My Daughter' is lighthearted yet realistic. If you have a child just entering high school, pick up this book."
"Common Sense Parenting," authored by Ray Burke, Ph.D., Bridget Barnes and Ron Herron, offers expert advice on building effective family relationships, preventing and correcting misbehavior, teaching self-control and staying calm.
"Parents in our classes and various professionals have raved about the new book," said Barnes, a Boys Town parenting expert for 22 years. "They especially like the overviews and the beginning of each section and the summaries at the end of each chapter. Everyone has commented on its easy-to-read style."
In "There Are No Simple Rules for Dating My Daughter," authors Laura Buddenberg and Kathleen McGee provide a realistic approach for parents to open a dialogue with their teenage daughters.
"The National Parenting Center's Seal of Approval confirms what we've been hearing from parents and kids alike: Dating is a hot topic," said McGee. "Fifth-graders to high school seniors want to talk about dating."
"People with teen daughters always say, 'Thanks, I need a copy of that,'" said Buddenberg. "People with daughters past that age say, 'Wow - I wish that book had been out when my daughters were teenagers.'"
Released in August, Buddenberg's and McGee's book is impacting many. Buddenberg said one gentleman purchased three copies, saying it was a must read for his daughters and daughter-in-law who are beginning to navigate the dating waters with their children.
In addition to these books, seven other Boys Town Press books have received the National Parenting Center Seal of Approval, including the "Common Sense Parenting First Edition," "Common Sense Parenting of Toddlers and Preschoolers," "Good Night, Sweet Dreams, I Love You: Now Get into Bed and Go to Sleep," "A Good Friend," "Who's in the Mirror," "Who's Raising Your Child" and "What's Right for Me."
