CWS Fans Get More Baseball Action at Boys Town

Even before the Babe swung his mighty bat, baseball was big at Boys Town

Father Flanagan began his mission to help hurting children by playing baseball with street kids who needed a home.  Today, the great American pastime lives on at Boys Town – and College World Series fans in Omaha for the 2007 games can soak in the history not far from Rosenblatt Stadium.

“Baseball at Boys Town,” an exhibit now on display at the Hall of History, features unique photos and artifacts from the history of baseball at Boys Town.  See signed baseballs from Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle and Ozzie Smith, Hank Aaron’s bat and a bronze bust of Lou Gehrig presented to Boys Town by his widow, Eleanor.  For College World Series Fans, there is also a signed baseball from the 2001 National Champion Miami Hurricanes and Coach Jim Morris.

The Hall of History exhibit also runs in conjunction with the “Batter Up At Boys Town” exhibit at the Leon Meyer Stamp Center at the Visitors Center.  It features baseball cards collected in the 1950s by youth at Boys Town

As a National Historic Landmark, the Village of Boys Town, National Headquarters for Boys Town, hosts thousands of visitors from around the world each year.  See the place where the magic of Father Flanagan’s dreams works miracles in children’s lives.
