From running the Oklahoma Sooners wishbone offense to creating groundbreaking legislation in the halls of Congress, J.C. Watts has never forgotten to give back to America's youth. Watts' commitment to youth causes is demonstrated throughout his career. After a successful football career as quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners and the Canadian Football League's Ottawa Renegades and Toronto Argonauts, Watts worked as a youth minister and associate pastor at Sunnylane Baptist Church in Del City, Okla.

As a Congressman from Oklahoma's Fourth District, Watts was a strong proponent of programs aimed at assisting inner-city youth. He and his wife, Frankie, are the founders of the J.C. and Frankie Watts Foundation, which provides valuable insight, vision and resources to young men and women through projects that inspire faith and compassion while promoting service, leadership and self sufficiency.

"J.C. Watts is a strong role model for our youth," said Robert Stoffel, Vice President of the Boys Town Sports Booster Club. "After his successful football career, he has proven to be a strong advocate for youth. He sponsors many programs for at-risk youth in the Washington, D.C. area."

Since serving in Congress, Watts is the chairman of J.C. Watts Companies, a multi-industry business headquartered in Washington, D.C.

As a former quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners, Watts led his team to two consecutive Big Eight Championships and Orange Bowl victories in 1980 and 1981. He was named Most Valuable Player of both Orange Bowl appearances.

The annual Sports Booster Banquet recognizes the achievements of Boys Town athletes throughout the year. Most outstanding and most dedicated players award winners are announced for each sport.

Alumni are also recognized with induction into the Boys Town Sports Hall of Fame. Ed Novotny, '43, Tom Carodine, '48, David Nelson, '51 and Bill Maddux, '53 will be honored for their athletic achievements during their time at Boys Town. Carodine and Nelson will be enshrined posthumously.
