Boys Town, the 90-year-old world-famous national youth care organization, and the American Film Institute Dallas International Film Festival will kick off the 70th Anniversary of the Academy Award-winning film “Boys Town” by honoring Mickey Rooney and launching the movie’s official web site, www.boystownmovie.com.

Hollywood star Mickey Rooney will be honored March 27 with the AFI Dallas Star Award for his contributions to film, especially his role in “Boys Town.” The movie will be screened at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at SMU Hughes-Trigg Theater.  Boys Town National Executive Director Father Steven Boes, Mickey Rooney and Boys Town alumni will attend the public event.

AFI DALLAS will donate proceeds from "Boys Town" movie tickets purchased by Boys Town alumni and friends to the world-famous organization founded by Father Flanagan.  Call 214.720.0663 to purchase your $8.50 ticket, and be sure to use the code word "Alumni" to ensure your donation.  Or click here and scroll down to the 3:15 p.m. event to purchase your ticket!  Limited seating available.

The Boys Town Movie web site, with special thanks to Warner Brothers, Warner Home Video and Turner Classic Movies, is the only non-promotional web site dedicated to  a film and a real place continuing the effort to help children, as highlighted in the film. The movie is on several AFI “Top” lists of all time.
