Boys Town New York Receives Donation from Torch Foundation

Thanks to a member of its Young Leadership Council (YLC), Boys Town New York recently received a $10,000 grant from the Torch Foundation to support their Common Sense Parenting ® (CSP) classes.

Since its founding in 1990, the Torch Foundation has raised millions of dollars to support children with a wide range of social, economic and medical conditions. The partnership between the Torch Foundation and Boys Town New York came to be when YLC member Sadaf Sattarzadeh learned of the foundation’s “Raising the Bar” committee at a bowling event. Sadaf discovered that the “Raising the Bar” committee held these events to raise funds that would be donated to help children in New York City. She knew Boys Town would be a perfect candidate.

After Sadaf held further discussions with members of the “Raising the Bar” committee, the Torch Foundation awarded Boys Town New York $10,000. “We are thankful for the effort made by Sadaf and the generosity of the Torch Foundation for this generous gift,” said James Hill, Boys Town New York Development Director. “The Torch Foundation and Boys Town New York’s mission aligns perfectly and we are happy they decided to join us in our efforts to support more children and families through our CSP classes.”

The Young Leadership Council is comprised of approximately 20 young professionals throughout New York City who are committed to making a difference to New York’s children and families by furthering the goals of Boys Town New York through philanthropy, volunteerism and advocacy.
