A Sweet Tradition for Foster Care Awareness Month

With nearly half a million children in foster care in the United States, the need for foster parents is always in high demand. To Boys Town, 88 families volunteer their time to care for 99 children in the Foster Family Services program. Since May is Foster Care Awareness Month, there is no better time to say thank you for all the selfless work these families do.

One way Boys Town is saying thank you is through candy deliveries. In its third year, this sweet tradition involves the Foster Family Services Consultants personally delivering items like bags of candy, copies of the Boys Town movie, umbrellas, and mugs to the Foster Parents they work closely with each day.

“We love this time of year,” said Matt Priest, Director, Foster Family Services. “Foster Care is such an important part of our community, and foster parents are the key to this service. Foster Parents deserve to be respected and appreciated. These candy baskets tend to make their day. Foster Care Awareness brings attention to what we do and allows us to show gratitude to our foster parents who provide critical care to children in their home.”

Boys Town extends a big thank you to all of the Foster Parents who provide care, safety, and love to children in need.
