Boys Town Passages Academy

Boys Town New York is committed to giving our kids the best opportunities to improve their lives.  At five residential programs in Brooklyn and Queens, we provide much needed compassionate care to kids who have been removed from their homes and families.  These are kids who have been abandoned, abused, neglected and are in trouble with the law.

The youth in our residential programs attend Boys Town Passages Academy, an accredited alternative public school where our students learn the academic, social and emotional skills they need to be successful when they transition home.

Low literacy is an enormous deficiency for students entering our school. These students are academically far below their equivalent age grade as a result of their troubled backgrounds. Therefore, at Passages Academy, students are grouped by ability, not age, so they can progress to the next level through a literacy-based curriculum tailored to their current educational needs.

All of the teachers and staff at Boys Town Passages Academy are trained in the Boys Town Education ModelSM.  The Model, which focuses on managing behavior, building relationships and teaching social skills, has been implemented in hundreds of schools and school districts nationwide.  Research shows that in classrooms where the Model is implemented, more students comply with teacher correction, stay academically engaged and are less likely to be truant and get into trouble.

Students at Boys Town Passages Academy learn to become productive members of society.  Our youth excel beyond national averages, with earning their high school diploma often as the first step toward success.
